Everything is tense right now; the air is filled with hostility, prejudice, frustration, and anxiety.
Not only are we battling an invisible virus, but we are battling a very visible battle of racism.
Social media has been a platform for constant exposure: the good and the bad.
We are seeing such horrific actions done by people, but one thing it has been doing is bringing us together. I’ve seen countless people posting, fighting, and advocating for those who have lost their lives due to the face of injustice.
It is all very heartwarming, yet at the same time, I can't help but say it is unfortunate how that when we reach our lowest points, that is usually when we band together and fight for another.
Why can’t we fight for each other before the fight gets ugly?
Why can’t we stand up for one another before someone gets shot or killed or stepped on to death?
I am not suggesting that we are all cold-hearted otherwise, but I do see a pattern of people showing their caring and sympathetic sides mostly when society hits a rock bottom.
We should be focused on working with one another BEFORE the chaos begins.
We need to find a way to dig into this love and advocation for one another on a DAILY basis.
Instead of trying to be the best while stepping on others to get there, why don't we help others succeed along the way?
Why can't helping building other people up, be considered a success, or a form of pride?
We are all humans trying to better ourselves and our lives.
Yet some of us create this attitude that the people around us are either better or worse than us and we act accordingly.
We need to break out of the mindset that we should be competing against one another.
There is already so much damage in this world; we do not need to add extra stress by creating invisible barriers or prejudices based on the color or beliefs of others.
